Is your website mobile-friendly?

Last week, Google announced that they have started sending out messages through Google Webmaster Tools and by email to site owners whose websites are not mobile-friendly.

These notifications contain the subject “fix mobile usability issues found on…” or look like this below in GWT:

Google Mobile Errors

These are clear signs that Google is about to launch a new mobile ranking algorithm and so you need to act now to ensure your website is not negatively affected.

How do I check whether my website is mobile-friendly in Google’s eyes?

If you don’t already have a Google Webmaster Tools account for your website go there now and create one (using your Google Analytics email if you have one):

You’ll need to verify the site is yours and this can be done in a number of ways, but usually via Google Analytics, adding a meta tag to the homepage or by uploading a file to the root of your website.

Once you have added your site and verified it, you can check the mobile usability report as shown below:

Any issues highlighted will need looking at, as soon as possible, by your web developer or agency.

If you need any help or have concerns about this, please get in touch.
