Once you get the hang of them and learn a few basics, PPC (Pay Per Click) ads are a fantastic way of generating income through digital advertising. With a range of options when it comes to ad styles, where they’re served, and how much you can rely on AI, there’s plenty of flexibility too.
But ads can also be costly if not done right. Poorly performing ads can see you spending money and receiving little to no return in leads or sales. So it’s important that you understand some basic functions and techniques before you invest any money.
PPC is a form of digital advertising where you only pay when people click on your advert. It doesn’t matter how many times someone sees an ad, if they don’t click, you don’t get charged.
Some of the most well-known providers include Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising (for Bing) and Meta (for Facebook and Instagram).
You’ll often see PPC ads when you use Google Search, when you play YouTube videos, and when you visit various websites across the internet. They can come in the form of text only, images and text, banner ads, video ads, and more.
Google Ads is the most frequently used PPC platform in the world, and the range of options available means there’s something suitable for almost every business. But there are advantages to other platforms too, so it’s worth researching them all to find out which will work best for your business.
If you’re not yet using PPC ads, it’s definitely worth considering including them in your marketing strategy.
If you’re new to PPC, or have tried them before with no success, then you might be understandably wary about spending money on it. With machine learning and automation, you can set your ads up for positive results without much effort at all, but you do still need to understand what you’re doing.
To reap the rewards of this kind of digital advertising, it’s certainly worth taking a little time to get to know the basics. Understand the structure of your chosen platform, learn some basic techniques, and check best practices, and you’ll find you have more satisfactory results.
